คุึณพ่อคุณแม่ท่านไหน ที่ส่งลูกมาเรียนโรงเรียนเอกชนที่ออสเตรเลีย บางท่านอาจจะยังไม่ทราบว่า โรงเรียนจะมีการให้ทุนการศึกษา ซึ่งอาจจะเป็นในรูปแบบของการลดค่าเทอมให้ หนึ่งในสี่ ครึ่งนึง หรือ เต็มจำนวน หากลูกของท่านได้รับทุนก็จะเป็นการประหยัดไปได้มาก

ตัวอย่างด้านล่างเป็น โรงเรียนเอกชนที่ใช้บริการการจัดสอบของสถาบันที่ชื่อว่า Edutest ซึ่งสามารถ เข้าไปดูข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมเกี่ยวกับ Edutestได้ที่ www.edutest.com.au

ก่อนอื่นคุณพ่อคุณแม่จะต้องเช็คดูว่าที่โรงเรียนที่ลูกเรียนมีการมอบ scholarship หรือไม่ หากลูกของท่านเก่งบางวิชาก็อาจจะ ได้รับส่วนลดค่าเทอมบ้าง การทดลองสอบก็ไม่เสียหลาย อย่างน้อยก็มีโอกาสให้ลุกๆได้เตรียมซักซ้อม เตรียมตัวเพื่อการสอบ

ค่าทดสอบประมาณ $75 Ausส่วนตารางการสอบสามารถดูได้ที่ด้านล่าง ซึ่งเป็นข้อมูลจากเวบไซต์ Edutest. หากโรงเรียนที่ลูกท่านเรียนไม่มีรายชื่อในนี้ ไม่ต้องตกใจค่ะ โรงเรียนนั้นอาจจะใช้บริการจัดสอบของที่อื่นก็ได้

ส่วนวิชาที่ต้องใช้สอบนั้นจะมีอธิบายในเวบไซต์ Edutest หรือ คลิกที่นี่

หลักๆคือ 1.การวัด ทักษะไหวพริบ และ 2.การวัดความสามารถด้านคณิตศาสตร์และภาษาอังกฤษ

Edutest Pty Ltd conducts Scholarship and Entrance tests on behalf of many schools in Australia.

Most schools will open their registration process in early 2009. However, check on the links below or contact the school if you want more information.

Please follow the steps below to register your child for any of the schools listed below.

Click on the school or schools you wish to apply to
Complete the school’s registration form online (some schools will have paper registration forms, so please read the school’s registration information carefully, and contact the school for details
If you want to apply to more than one school, then you must complete an application form for EACH of the schools you choose
To register for more than one school, all you need to do is log in with your ID and password (you received your login details when you completed your first registration) and complete the next school’s application form
Payment is made online at the end of each application. Therefore if you registered for 3 schools, then 3 separate payments must be made: one for each school. Note that each school may have a different registration fee
Your child can only sit for ONE test, and the results will then be transferred to the other schools you have registered with
Your child must sit at the earliest test date eg if you chose 2 schools, with School A testing on February 28th and School B testing on March 1, then your child must sit the test on February 28 with the results being sent to School B when they test
If your child does not sit at the school with the earliest/first date, then they will not be eligible for scholarship or entrance consideration to that school

Private school parents put tables low on the list

PARENTS of children at private schools say they are not as interested in school performance tables as the Federal Government claims they are.

The parents are more interested in the happiness, safety and social development of their children, says a position statement being drafted by the Australian Parents Council, a national federation of organisations representing parents of non-government school students. The council’s executive director, Ian Dalton, said parents ranked happiness and safety way ahead of student results in public tests. Read the full article

Govt agrees teaching needs improvement

27/10/09: The federal government has acknowledged the quality of teaching in Australian schools could be better. An Australian Education Union (AEU) survey of about 1,500 public school principles found 59 per cent had trouble getting the teachers they needed in the last year, and almost as many thought the problem was getting worse. The organisation’s data, released on Tuesday, also revealed that 59 per cent of high schools had teachers working outside their area of expertise because of the shortage. Read the full article…
